Bread For The World Seeking Justice, Ending Hunger. For nearly three decades, Bread for the World has worked with churches of every denomination to encourage Christians to communicate their concerns and their hopes to members of Congress. Each year St. David’s holds an “Offering of Letters” campaign. In 2006 St. David’s participated in the STAND UP campaign that included hundreds of us standing up in prayer on the same day as 23,542,614 other people at 11,600 events world-wide. STAND UP against poverty is part of the ONE Campaign and teaches about the U.N. Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

Cookies for Soldiers For several years cookies have been delivered to the Family Soldier Center at BAMC for the soldiers and their families to enjoy. The cookies are made and delivered to the church by faithful bakers each week and taken to BAMC by Jean Heard. There is a constant demand for more cookies, so bakers are always needed. For more information on this opportunity please call the church office.

Food Basket The Hunger Wall Outreach Ministry began in February of 1978. Good Samaritan Center’s food pantry has been the primary recipient of the food from 1978 to 2000. In April 2000, St. David’s began supporting the ministries of both the Good Samaritan Community Services and the Agape Ministry Center by alternately donating to these ministries’ food pantries with over 36,000 items being collected each year. Donations can be made in the Church Narthex food basket and the children of the school often bring items during their daily chapel time.

Lenten Bread Sales Each Sunday in Lent St. David's parishioners bring and buy breads to help support Good Samaritan Community Services after school programs. Breads should be priced and brought to church for sales after both services. Lenten Bread Sales for 2009 raised $950 for Good Samaritan Community Services to provide after school snacks for the children.

MEALS ON WHEELS St. David's has participated in this program for over 25 years. We deliver hot lunches five days a week to elderly or disabled people in our vicinity. Over the years, we have had a large number of people performing this service. The Christian Senior Services prepared the meals at their headquarters on Babcock Road and they deliver them to our school’s kitchen along with a sheet that has the names and addresses of the people who will be receiving the meals that day. This sheet will also have any pertinent information regarding special diets anyone may have. Our volunteers arrive at the school about 11:00 AM to pick up their deliveries. Every day our volunteers split up the list, load the meals, and start their rounds. It usually takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete the route.
Over the years, our list of volunteers has changed, as has our client list. We have had such a wonderful group of “Angels” who have helped with this service and without exception, they will tell you how much it means to them. It is such a needed service and so appreciated- a true Godly outreach. If you would like to be part of this ministry, please call the church office.
