OUTREACH

OUTREACH

At St. David’s Episcopal Church, outreach is an expression of Christ’s transformative love in action. We are called to serve our neighbors with compassion, generosity, and hope, with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable children and addressing food insecurity in our community.

We live out this mission in several ways:

  • Serving alongside our mission partners through volunteer opportunities, hands-on service, and shared resources. Our partners include Corazon Ministries, Snack Pak 4 Kids, Good Samaritan Community Services, and many others.
  • Sharing our campus, gifts, and talents with St. David’s Episcopal School and community organizations that enrich and strengthen the lives of those we serve.
  • Giving generously through parish-wide drives, direct financial support, and special outreach initiatives that benefit our mission partners and the Diocese of West Texas.

Together, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ - serving our community, building relationships, and sharing God’s love with the world.

CORAZON MINISTRIES

We have expanded our partnership with Corazón Ministries, and St. David's now serves as the "Fifth Sunday Breakfast Team" at Travis Park Church. This is an incredible organization and a wonderful opportunity to serve and give back to the unhoused in downtown San Antonio. The time commitment is typically 7:00 - 10:30 a.m., and the fifth Sundays in 2026 are in March, May, August, and November. Contact Katherine Gainey or the church office for more information.

SNACK PAK 4 KIDS

Snack Pak 4 Kids® San Antonio was born out of a simple yet powerful mission: to improve educational outcomes by banishing weekend hunger among school kids. Since 2012, they have ensured that at-risk children across Bear County have wonderful Snack Paks to take home each Friday, so their weekends are hunger-free. Before Wilshire Elementary School's closure in 2025, we partnered with Snack Pak to ensure their students received Snack Paks every Friday during the school year. We now assist in assembling Snack Paks at the Daily Bread warehouse. It is a fun and rewarding way for the entire family to contribute!

GOOD SAM

Good Samaritan Community Services began as a ministry of the Episcopal Church in 1939, and more than 85 years later, it still serves as a catalyst for change in San Antonio, supporting youth, individuals, and families by providing excellent community services to overcome economic poverty. We partner with Good Sam to provide volunteers on their campus as well as collect donations for their holiday bags, back to school supply drives.

THE LAMB PROJECT

We are also excited to announce our newest outreach initiative!

St. David’s has long been a trusted anchor for young children and families in San Antonio. The Lamb Project is the natural next step in that mission - extending Christ’s love and care to the smallest and most vulnerable among us.

This new outreach initiative is being developed to provide essential support for infants and toddlers in our community whose families may be struggling to meet basic needs. Beginning this fall, The Lamb Project will offer monthly Saturday distributions of diapers and formula for

families in need.

Through this ministry, we hope to live out St. David’s call to serve and feed the vulnerable while reaching families in our community with compassion, dignity, and care. Stay tuned - more to come!
